Mickey

March 1985 - September 1998
I found you at the pound, you were such a sight
Your coat was so unkept, eyes almost closed tight
I took you home and bathed you, your ears stuck straight up
Remember how we watched each other, as you drank from a cup?
I will never forget that first night, you watched me very much
It was like you couldn’t believe someone needed your touch
Can’t recall exactly when the bond grew so close
I do know that you made your part something I cherish most!
Darling, my heart is broken now, but I also shout with glee
To know that you won’t hurt no more, heaven’s where you’ll be
I sure do hope that up there, there’s a pretty little girl
Who’ll take you in her arms and hug you and give you a little twirl
Thank you darling Mickey, for being my very best pal,
We sure had us some good times, forget I never shall!
So now I say goodbye, I’m sorry I wasn’t here
Sleep well my little buddy, my love will keep you near!
