Higgins
Higgins (March 25, 1986 - April 1, 1999)
Official name: Harp's My Good Man Higgins
About Higgins:
We got him when we were first stationed in Michigan when he was 6 weeks
old and for 6 months after that he was my only daily companion since it
took me (Cheryl) that long to find a job. He was the sweetest, cutest
puppy I think I have ever seen. Throughout his life he had his share of
health problems (I never knew dogs could have hayfever). But through it
all, his love and companionship never waivered.
This last year was very
hard on him and us as his problems became more of a burden on him. And
even though most of his last days were spent sleeping, just knowing he
was there with us was comforting. This past Thursday, when we
discovered he had cancer and that it had already spread throughout his
little, frail body, we realized nothing more could be done. We had to
let him go. And in our hearts we know that Higgy knew this as well.

To Higgins:
We miss you so much, Higgy. You were a part of lives for 13 years, yet
that seems like such a short time. We can still feel you near our legs
as we eat dinner or snuggling against our backs for warmth in bed at
night. We miss seeing you lounged out in your favorite recliner. We
wish we could have been with you when you slipped away but we know that
right now you are probably arguing again with your good old friend
Magnum or begging for a snack. Thinking of you that way is a comfort,
but Momma is crying as she writes this and dearly wishes you were here
to comfort her like you used to. Till we meet again, please remember
that we love you so much. Our lives will never be the same without you.
