In memory of a devoted friend
Muffie a devoted friend.
A timid little thing in the corner you stood, alone and afraid of the people within
But one smile and a cuddle and a kiss on the nose
and friends we became there and then.
Oh we had such fun my new friend and me
Playing with toys and swimming in the sea
Walking for miles along golden sands,
In the fields we ran through the long grass,
Playing hide and seek with things to find,
and things to hide.
As the years passed by,
Always together my best friend and I
We had troubles to share
And tears to cry,
But always there with a wag of his tail,
He listened, and smiled and always forgave
Never angry with me when times got bad,
And always a cuddle when I was sad,
He loved me and I loved him
A bond a friendship so strong within.
The fourteen years have gone so fast,
No more running in the long grass
No more hide and seek we play.
A ride in the car a stroll in the park
Then home in the warm for my best friend and I
The time together of endless joy
Was coming to an end for my best boy,
He looked up at me with his big sad eyes
And no words were said
Because I knew
I held him close and kissed his nose
And left his head on my shoulder as his eyes closed,
    My best friend fell asleep
And left me alone to grieve and weep
Together one day we will be running and swimming in the blue sea
Oh dear friend I miss you so
But just for a while I must let you go.
FOR MUFFIE MY PAL.
This poem was written by me the day that my boy was put to sleep.
Please tell anyone that has just lost a friend that it really does help to write
about them because what you write at the time comes from the heart.
