Drew

My dog's name was "Drew". I rescued him off the streets of Lynn, MA. USA on January 20th, 1996. "Drew's" age was guestimated by the vet to be approx 6-8 months old and it was thought that he was a pitbull/boxer mix. He weighed only 17lbs. After only a few weeks of lots of love, TLC and lots of play time, socialization and "treats" he was a 42 lb. beautiful dog. A lot of people thought he had some Rhodesian Ridgeback in him.

"Drew" really "rescued" me though. I was 31 living alone after a broken engagement and all of my close friends were getting married and starting families and it was a very lonely time for me. Coming home at the end of the day to an empty apartment and eating frozen dinners for one was starting to get to me. After Drew came into my life, I was no longer lonely. I couldn't wait to get home to go for a walk down the beach, or to Lynn Woods Reservation or just to hang-out and play ball. I looked forward to just sitting on the couch with my Drew.

This April of 2002, Drew was diagnosed with an incurable form of bone cancer at Mass. Veterinary Referral Hospital and he died on July 25th, 2002. Today, I am writing this on Christmas Day of 2002 and my heart is breaking…I miss him soooo much. I am glad that he is no longer in any pain and I know he is a dog star in heaven because he was my Angel. Thank you Drew for keeping me company for 4 1/2 wonderful years, you were the best dog and I will never forget you…loving you and knowing you has made me a better person and I will be forever grateful.

Shine On!!!
Love you forever,
Lynne Eagar
