Sampan Sylvor
January 10, 1984 - January 17, 1996
Gentle boy warrior
Our Protector
You were so scared and yet so brave
We see you still
Lying in the middle of Hedges Banks Drive
Running down Semaphore full speed ahead
Assuming the position on the front deck
Ever watchful, Surveying your kingdom
Wasn't it only yesterday you were
Stealing daddy's place in the bed
Sitting in the driver's seat
Knocking on Honey's door for a romp on the beach?
Visiting Barney and Chip, as a perpetual uninvited guest?
At any given moment, you were ready to show us all the
wonderful places there were to see...and the further the better
It is rumored that you decimated the chicken population of the entire USA
And remember those awful smelling kidneys?
You brought us more love than we ever dreamed possible
Cracked open our hearts, you did
We loved you so. We love you so.
Our grief at losing you was almost unbearable
All these years later, although we miss you still
We know now that you live within us and outside of us.
Sampan, do you know that you entirely changed the direction of our lives?
Were you sent to us for that reason?
Thank you, Dear One, for all the gifts you brought to us.
Take care of Soo Mai and Honey.
Always,
Mommy and Daddy
