Doña Sylvor

???? - November 9, 2006
Dearest Doña Poña, our little big girl, our independent girl, the last of the East Hampton swimming dogs,
the first of our Mexican family… the fearless one who was never afraid of the big dogs….Something very big
is missing in our house now.
Yet we can still see that chubby body running at full speed,
trying unsuccessfully to keep the world safe from kitties, chipmunks and
squirrels or chasing a ball or that hind leg twitching as we scratched your
belly and hit just the right spot; was there ever a time you weren't up for a belly scratch?
And there you were prancing and dancing and finally digging through our suitcases, looking
for the inevitable toy hidden there just for you, or pacing back and forth in front of the
refrigerator; you knew that there were always more ham treats hidden inside.
How you made us
laugh as you rubbed your little head against the painted wall until you achieved just the
right shade of orange for your latest punk hairdo.
We'll never know who rescued whom, Doña, but we surely do know who got the best of the deal.
The ten years of pure joy you gave us fill us with gratitude. And yet, although you will never,
ever leave our hearts, we miss your ever-friendly, playful presence and always will.
Who wouldn't fall in love with your sweet, happy soul, Miss Dee? We hope wherever you are,
there are lots of toys, and that you are with your big sister, Soo Mai. Just wait until she sees who the boss is now.
Please be waiting for us, your Mommy and Daddy and for your
little girl Sau-Lee at the Rainbow Bridge. How could we bear to think otherwise?
Love always
Daddy & Nancy & Sau Lee
