Julie

Julia Von Strauss (Julie) was a beautiful German Short Hair Retriever, that we had for only 4 short years. We had a garden then, and Julie loved to be turned loose in it. She loved the fresh greenbeans and was particularly fond of fresh green peppers. One evening when I was getting ready to harvest and put up the green peppers, when I went out to get them, our friend Julie had taken a bite out of everyone of them. When I turned to her, I saw that she had turned a little green herself. I figured she had had all the punishment she needed.

Julie was a retriever, but all she ever pointed was butterflys. One day as she was chasing a beautiful Monarch Butterfly, she followed it right out in the road and was instantly killed. The was on Mother's Day and I will never forget her. She was a beautiful creature and a wonderful friend.
