Sand Dune
Sandyland"s Sand Dune (left, pictured with Clementine) was my son's dog. A marvelous character in terms of
what she could, would, and did devour or at least bring home. Some examples
of which are: down vests, deer carcasses, contents of trash cans(she was
expert at tipping and extracting), road kill, workmen"s lunches, food fed to
local chickens (apparently enough time to be shot with a 22 cal. which we
subsequently found when X-raying for a litter during a false pregnancy). She
also liked to spend time at the village store waiting for scraps and dropped
icecream cones.
Perhaps her most infamous feats were eating all the
stuffing for the Christmas turkey, and peeling a long, central strip of our
carpet just as one would a banana. She was still "ours" and did raise our
two Bull Terriers with kindness and patience.
