Scout

7/14/96 - 5/30/99

Picked from the litter of eleven because she was the only pup who dutifully followed mom around the yard. Named after the young girl in the book, 'To Kill a Mockingbird'. She was our ear-nibbling, wiggle-butt, spotted smiley-dog. Scout truly was one of a kind. Highly intelligent and sensitive to people, she expressed her emotions well. She often showed her happiness by smiling from ear to ear and letting out a snortle. She made so many people smile by smiling at them. The heart-shaped spot on her left cheek was an indicator that this dog was love on a leash.

But just as she stole our hearts, she also broke them by leaving us much too soon. Scout was bitten by a rattlesnake after a fun filled day at the lake we often visited, and died two days later. What a brave little girl she was! She left this earth blessed with tears from her masters eyes. We'll always remember our Scout girl, for she left pawprints on our hearts. We know that she's gone through the doggy-door at heavens gate, and is waiting for us in the meadow, just across the rainbow bridge.
