Nekko

Nekko is dearly missed by Frost.

Nekko, you've left a huge empty space in the world. I know that it will fill up in time with all of the wonderful memories and images I have of you...but for now, it's empty...

Nekko has been the constant in my life for the last 13 1/2 years. She is the only one who knows all of the places I've lived...she has been able to make any place a home for my heart...She has always been a shiny little light-contented to stay in the background while Flounder, then MacKenzie, stole all the attention. Nekko was the gentle one, asking for leftover pets...and leftover food.

Nekko loved so many things in life...People (her whole BEING would wag when someone rang the door bell). Children (even when they tried to ride her like a horse). Baby kittens (their tiny bodies would stick to her tongue and lift off the ground as she bathed them under Mamma Sarah's watchful eye). Food (ANY food). Her family ( no matter what mistakes we made or feelings we felt). She was everything gentle wrapped up in a round sausage body.

Nekko loved to explore the world, make friends with ducks, horses, anyone who crossed her path. She loved hiking mountain trails or through giant sand dunes. She loved swimming in rivers, The Atlantic and Lake Michigan. She loved when we came home from work and school...

Over the past few years, Nek got more lumpy and bumpy...the right side of her face atrophed and sunk in...she had a tumor removed from her lip which left teeth showing even when she closed her mouth...all in all, she was a bit funny looking...but never stopped smiling...and never stopped loving us.

Now it's time for Nekko to run again, play with her Flounder and never struggle for a breath.

We love you Nekko...
Marla, Brandon, Drew, Tyler, Shannon, Greg...and so many others...

Thank you for sharing your life with me, sweet angel Nek...
