Dick

All I have now is a movie ... and some old, fading photographs ... what a way to remember the love of a Dog. Just a mutt... border collie it said on the papers, but to a 5-year-old boy, he was the most wonderful friend, running, playing in the snow, right there when you looked around.

Where did the years go? and how did we grow so old? Tired, in pain, going blind, but still the love was there, even in every little whimper of pain from the body failing a little more every day. "Is it Love," I ask myself, "to want to hold on, or is it really only self delusion?" Is it possible to see the pain in his eyes, with no real hope for relief, and not want peace? But it's so hard ... and it HURTS ... even now, over 30 years later, but that spark as he passed onto the "Bridge of Eternity" was enough to say thank you...I will await you on the other side, and we can play again... I Love You.

"Dick"...16-year-old Border Collie ... Companion, friend, and so much more. I will remember you, and love you, always.

Sad Memory-laden Hugs,

Dennis
