Chesney
In Our Lives from July 6, 1998 - February 13, 1999
It was the day after we returned from our Honeymoon. I dragged my husband to
the Animal Shelter to get a puppy. I wanted to have it from day one, so there
wouldn't be a time we remembered without him. There wasn't many to choose
from, however I am sure we still would have picked him. My husband pointed to
him, I picked him up, and that was all it took. We named him Chesney, after
the country singer Kenny Chesney who sang our wedding song. The named fit him
perfect, he became so much a part of me, and so much a part of my husband.
Within the first week I had him rushed to the vet, because something was
wrong. The doctor diagnosed it as Parvo and gave him a 50/50 chance of making
it. We gave him all our love, the medication, special food ... and it worked!
He made it, and became a very healthy puppy.
He was mommy's baby: Where ever I was he was. Whether it was soap time or nap
time, we did it together. Going to the bank, and getting a treat from the
teller. Teaching him to "catch the ball" and to "shake", to eating up all my
bras.
He was daddy's buddy: Everyday when Michael came home from work, Chesney
could pick his truck pulling in the driveway out of anything. He would sit
tall at the window, till he saw him and then would jump with excitement till
he got in the door and played with him. Every time Michael went to the dump,
so did Chesney. Everytime daddy ate a cookie, Chesney got a cookie.
He was so much apart of both of us. He had this little "sigh" he would
occasionally let out, that just said to us ... how happy he was, and he knew
he had it made.
His life was suddenly taken from us when he was hit by a car. I rushed him to
the vet, but he didn't make it. The vet said he was just hit to hard. It
was a sad day burying him in the back yard, on his pillow bed, with his
favorite toys. He will always be mommy's baby and daddy's buddy, and although
there will be others, none will ever fill the huge paw print he left on both
of our hearts.
Sadly missed and forever remembered by Michael and Heather Phillips
